How do you make a dump cake from scratch?

A dump cake is super simple because pretty much all you need to do is dump everything in a pan and bake it! 

Keep in mind that you don’t want to drain your fruit because the juice from the fruit is going to be what brings the cake mix together.

When you spread the butter onto the cake mix, spread it out so that it melts evenly, you could even melt the butter in a small bowl and pour it over the cake mix. 

Cherry Dump Cake with Pineapple with CinnamonThe amount of cinnamon is up to you, you can sprinkle a lot or a little. Just make sure it’s evenly distributed. You could also add oats to your cake at this point!

Bake the cake according to directions and let it cool when it comes out of the oven to set. Serve warm with ice cream, or let it cool completely.

Here’s What You Need:

Ingredients:

1 Box Yellow Cake Mix
1 Can Cherry Pie Filling
1 Can Pineapple Chunks
1 Stick of Butter
Dash of Cinnamon 

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9×13″ pan with cooking spray.
Dump in cherry pie filling and pineapples – do not drain. (you can mix them, or just spread them out when you dump them. It doesn’t have to be perfect). 
Pour cake mix over the fruit and spread evenly. 
Cut butter into thin slices and place it on top of the cake mix and sprinkle with cinnamon. 
Bake for 50-55 minutes or until the edges start to brown. 
Remove from oven and cool completely or serve hot with ice cream.

Should you refrigerate dump cake?

Any leftovers should be stored in the refrigerator! My husband actually likes this cake best cold on the next day. However, it’s also wonderful served warm with ice cream! But if you have an extra, be sure to keep it in the fridge so it doesn’t spoil.

The best part about a dump cake is that it doesn’t take much effort. Stir the fruit if you want, but it’s not necessary. A dump cake is super simple because you just dump it all together. I would not stir the cake mix once you add it, just spread it out evenly.
