Homemade Orange Rolls Recipe!
- Sweet Dough:
- 2½-3 cups unbleached flour
- 1 tablespoon yeast (or 1 package)
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¾ teaspoons salt
- ¼ cup softened butter
- ¾ cup hot water
- 1 egg
- Filling:
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoon orange zest
- 4 table spoons freshly squeezed orange juice
- Icing:
- ½ stick butter.
- 8oz cream cheese
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 and ⅓ cup powdered sugar
- 3 Tablespoons Mandarin Orange Canada Dry Sparkling Water
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Combine 1 cup flour, undissolved yeast, sugar, and salt in large bowl.
- Stir well.
- Add softened butter.
- Add hot tap water to ingredients in bowl.
- Beat with electric mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Add egg and ½ cup more flour and best with mixer for an additional 1 minute.
- Gradually stir in just enough more flour to make a soft dough.
- Place dough on a floured counter and round into a ball.
- Knead dough 5-10 minutes or until dough is smooth.
- Cover with plastic wrap and then a towel.
- Let rest for 20 minutes and punch down.
- Roll out into a rectangle and spread orange filling on top.
- Roll dough and pinch edges.
- Cut ½" rolls and place on greased pan. (Use a 13/9" Glass Pan)
- Refrigerate 2-24 hours in fridge.
- When ready to bake, remove from refrigerator, let stand 10 minutes,
- Bake for 20-25 minutes at 375 degrees.
- Remove immediately and place on wire rack.
- And ice with orange glaze.
- Filling Directions:
- Soften butter.
- Add sugar, orange juice, and orange zest.
- Icing Directions:
- Soften Butter and Cream Cheese.
- Stir in Vanilla, Powdered Sugar, and Mandarin Orange Canada Dry Sparkling Water
