How to Make 4th of July Star Rice Krispies Treats
Gather all of your ingredients listed below. You can use any holiday sprinkles you have on hand!
If you are using a Melting Pot to melt your almond bark, start melting it now so it’s ready to use when you are.
In a large microwaveable bowl, melt the butter. Start with 15 second increments so that it doesn’t pop in the microwave and make a mess.
Stir in the marshmallows (all but 1 cup) and then melt in the microwave in 45 second increments, stirring between. You want your marshmallows completely melted. I like to spray my spatula with cooking spray so the marshmallows don’t stick.
Add in the remaining marshmallows. They will melt a little, but not completely.
Slowly fold in toasted rice cereal until combined. This is a great time to add the holiday sprinkles to your krispie treat mixture.
Press rice krispies onto a surface lined with parchment paper or into a baking sheet. You will want the krispie treats about as thick as the cookie cutters you are going to be using.
Cut stars (or any shape) into your krispie treats and place the shapes on another sheet of parchment paper or a cooling rack.
Melt almond bark according to directions or in a melting pot and drizzle over star krispie treats. Sprinkle with holiday sprinkles and allow to cool completely.
This recipe yields about 32 Krispie Treats, but it may depend on the thickness and size of your cookie cutter. You can always half or double this recipe depending on how many you need.
