Wedding Planning 101!
Yay! You’re engaged! Congratulations! Now what?! Here are my tips for Wedding Planning 101!
We keep saying “we have never been engaged before, we don’t know”. So how do we plan a wedding?! Here’s what I would want to know for Wedding Planning 101! People get married everyday, so it’s not rocket science, but it is nice to have a starting point and to get your head wrapped around the whole process.
1) Get a Wedding Planner
I don’t mean an actual person – however you can do that if you want to.. I am talking about an old school, on paper, write with pen (or pencil) notebook! My AMAZING sister go this for me on the night we got engaged! It’s not so much a journal, but a planner! If you know her, you know she is surely a planner! It’s been fun keeping track of everything all in one place!
Here are some of my favorite wedding planners!
Bloom Daily Planners – This is the one my sister got for me and I LOVE it!
Martha Stewart’s Keepsake Wedding Planner
The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner

2) Start a Calendar
My favorite part of the Wedding Planner I have is the calendar! The first thing I did was set the calendar up for the months I needed. I transferred my old calendar to the new one so that it’s all in the same place! It’s amazing how fast dates started rolling in!!
Here are some of the things that I was able to add to my calendar!
Friends’ Weddings (so we don’t double book)
Wedding Dress Shopping
Lunches with Friends
Meetings with Photographers
Important Dates and Deadlines
Holidays and Birthdays
These are just a few I thought of off the top of my head. Both of my sisters are married with kids and so it is important that we plan ahead for things like wedding dress shopping! I also have a lot of friends getting married around the same time and I don’t want to double-book our events! I have had an overwhelming outpouring of love and support from friends, so it has been so much fun going to lunch and sharing my joy and excitement! Plus, being able to remember important dates and deadlines has helped to cut down on a lot of stress!
3) Make a List
Make a list of everything you need to remember! I started lists of people who have offered to help with the wedding, people who have stuff available that we can borrow, people I want to be in my wedding, photographers to contact, dress stores to visit, color options and ideas, and more! There are so many things that start running through your head that it’s a good idea to start lists of things you want to remember! Plus, once you write it down you have less to keep in your memory! 🙂
Of course I keep my lists in my wedding planner, so refer back to #1! 🙂
4) Gather Ideas
Finally! It’s time to head to Pinterest! I have been waiting for this moment! But, now I actually have to find time to research Pinterest and see what I want for my wedding! I actually NEED to find time to pin my favorites! It’s a great resource, and my sister keeps saying – stuff like Pinterest wasn’t around when I got married! Use the resources you have and get creative! It’s possible to plan a wedding on a budget and still get what you want!
5) Invest in Essential Oils
Stress Away and Valor have been my go-to oils so far! Wedding planning is exhausting! Not because of the actual planning, but because it’s on top of everything else you’re already dong and it’s something that you are excited about and invested in! Essential Oils are an all natural Mood Lifting, Cell Penetrating, and Wellness Boosting tools that are great to have around during this season!
I choose 5 of my favorite oils to talk about during this season of wedding planning!
Stress Away – It does what the name says! Wedding planning can get stressful, especially when things don’t go the way you expect them to in your head. Diffuse this oil or rub it on your wrists and breath it in! You can also put this behind your ears and on the back of your neck!
Valor – Also known as the “brave oil”! Do you have meetings to go to that you are nervous about? Meeting with photographers, bakers, friends, family, and more trying to get everything planned? WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING?! Okay – now you know what I’m talking about. Keep Valor with you in your purse for those “bride moments” when you need extra support! Valor can also be diffused!
Lime – If you are like me and adding wedding planning on top of a busy schedule, you will want to keep Lime Essential Oil in your purse! Lime is an all-natural mood lifter! Put a drop on your neck or rub it on your wrists and breath it in! It will immediately lift your mood and have an uplifting effect! I can be super tired before I apply lime and then awake and motivate after! I’m not sure how it works, but it sure works for me! Lime can also be diffused!
Thieves – Immune support – YES PLEASE! I am planning a Winter Wedding, which means there is no time to slack on my wellness routine. I need to build and support my immune system as much as possible this wedding planning season! I will surely be diffusing this one and keeping it close by when I need extra support! Thieves Tea, a drop of Thieves in my Mouth, or Thieves on my feet! There are so many ways to support the immune system with Thieves! Ask me for more if you are curious how this could work for you!
Lavender – Lavender Oil is great for promoting relaxing! Add Lavender to your Bath Salts, your diffuser, or to your body topically. Lavender is the swiss army knife of oils and does SO MANY THINGS! Promote health and wellness and relaxation with this one! Definitely a favorite of mine and I diffuse it every. single. night while I sleep!
Plus, as you get married you can use Essential Oils in so many different ways in your everyday lifestyle and home! Let me know if you have more questions! E-mail me at [email protected]. Or learn more about how I recommend getting started here!
