Here are a few of the common questions I get asked about cookie bars!

Do peanut butter cookie bars harden as they cool?

Yes, your peanut butter cookie bars will harden as they cool. They will seem super soft once they come out of the oven, but as they cool down they will harden and be easier to cut into cookie bars.

How long do cookie bars last?

Peanut Butter Cookie Bars will last about 2 to 3 weeks if stored properly! Just be sure to store them in an airtight container or in the fridge. If you make a large batch and don’t eat them all, store the extras in the freezer and they will last even longer!

Do magic cookie bars have to be refrigerated?

You don’t have to refrigerate magic cookie bars unless you are in a very hot location or during the heat of summer. Most of the time I will put mine in an airtight container and keep them in the fridge. This is something I like to do, but it’s not essential.

How do you freeze peanut butter cookie bars?

Cool the cookie bars completely before you freeze them. Once they are cooled, wrap them well using heavy aluminum foil or freezer wrap! You can also pack them in freezer bags or freezer friendly plastic containers! I am a huge fan of vacuum sealing desserts before freezing.

Do peanut butter cookie bars freeze well?

Yes, peanut butter cookie bars freeze very well! They are an easy dessert to make ahead and put in the freezer. Just be sure to let them cool completely before you freeze them and to store them in an airtight container. Also, be sure to put them in the freezer the night before you’re wanting to serve them so they can thaw!

How do you know your cookie bar is done?

Bake your cookie bars for 25-32 minutes or until lightly browned on the sides. Use a toothpick to test for doneness in the center. If it comes out clean, the bars are done. Do not over cook the cookie bars or they will become too hard.
