What makes cookies crinkle?

The powdered sugar coating! The cookie spreads out as it bakes, creating a “cracked” look. I love how unique and fun these cookies are!

Does my Crinkle Cookie Dough need to be chilled?

This recipe does not have to be chilled since it’s made from a cake mix. You can scoop the cookie dough balls and bake immediately after coating in powdered sugar.

However, some crinkle cookie doughs do need to be refrigerated to achieve the crinkle look on the top.

Can I use granulated sugar on my Crinkle Cookies instead of powdered or confectioners sugar?

Yes! Granulated sugar can also be used to make crinkle cookies. You won’t get as much of a “snowball” effect, but the cookies will look glazed with a crunchy shell .
