How to make Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies
Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies are such a classic and simple cookie to make!
Start by combining your sugars and butter. Add in the other “wet” ingredients (egg and vanilla). Measure in the dry ingredients and then add in the chocolate chips.
I like a mix of mini chocolate chips and regular chocolate chips to really pack these Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies with ALL. THE. CHOCOLATE!
Bake at 350 degrees for 9-10 minutes and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. (This will allow them to finish cooking, but leave the center gooey!) Yummy!
Why are my Chocolate Chip Cookies flat?
The main reason why your Chocolate Chip Cookies are flat is probably because your oven is too hot.
Every oven is a little bit different, but I’ve found that 350 degrees is the perfect temperature for these Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
These Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies are some my all time FAVORITE cookies to make!
If you love cookies with a soft and gooey center, these Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies will not disappoint!
Bake the cookies until the edges just start to brown. The center will still be slightly soft so let the cookies cool for about 10 minutes on the baking sheet.
The cookies will still continue to cook while on the baking pan, giving you delicious Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies!

How to make Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies!
Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. Then line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Add the butter, sugar, and brown sugar to a mixing bowl and cream together.
Next add in the egg and vanilla extract and mix in well.
Now add in the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, and salt). Mix all the ingredients together until fully combined.
Next, add in 1 cup of mini chocolate chips (save the other 1/2 cup for later) and 1/2 cup of regular chocolate chips.
Use a cookie scoop (I used a 3 tablespoon scoop) to make cookie dough balls. Place them on the baking sheet about 2 1/2″ apart.
Before baking, take each cookie dough ball and roll the top in the remaining 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips.
Then place the cookie dough ball back on the baking sheet with the mini chocolate chips facing up.
Bake the cookies for 9-10 minutes until the edges start to brown.
Finally, let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes. Move them to a cooling rack to finish cooling, then serve and enjoy!

What is the secret to the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies?
My favorite tips for making the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies!
- DON’T OVER BAKE THEM! I like to actually underbake my cookies and let them cool on the hot baking sheet, which allows them to continue to cook but not burn. This leaves the center soft and chewy!
- Use Mini Chocolate Chips! This gives the same delicious chocolate flavor, just more of it since there are more mini chocolate chips throughout each cookie! YUM!
- Unsalted Butter! Using Salted Butter will add too much salt to you cookie. I prefer to use Unsalted Butter, but then add salt to the batter so I know how much I’m using.
Should you refrigerate Chocolate Chip Cookie dough before baking?
You can totally refrigerate your Chocolate Chip Cookie dough before baking! Refrigerating your cookie dough before baking causes the dough to become firmer.
This will help with preventing the cookies from spreading and instead remain Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies!
Can I freeze my Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough!
YES! This is one of my favorite and preferred things to do with my Chocolate Chip Cookie dough! Here is my Chocolate Chip Cookies Freezer Recipe with all my tips!
Once I’ve made my Chocolate Chip Cookie dough and have created the cookie dough balls, I freeze them on a baking sheet. Once they are completely frozen, I transfer them to a zipper bag and keep them in the freezer.
Then, when I want to have some Chocolate Chip Cookies for dessert or guests, I can pull out however many cookie dough balls I need and bake them like usual at 350 degrees for 9-10 minutes. Super easy Chocolate Chip Cookies Freezer Recipe!
